Yesterday I had 2 amazing auditions. 1 for quite a well known fringe Venue that are hoping to transfer the peice to the Westend. This one I really want. I went in to meet the director, who I was strangely drawn too. I just wanted to sit there and look at his face. Have you ever had that after meeting someone? Very calm, relaxed aura... I did a monologue and then read a couple of scenes from the play. The monologue went well but then I know that peice inside out. I read one scene twice (He directed me after I did it once) and the other scene I read just once. Having only read the play that morning. (I only got the audition the night before) I felt a little unprepared and although it was probably a solid audition I'm not sure it 'pinged' off the page y'know?! Shame though as I would so LOVE to get that one.
That ran over so I dashed across london to try to get to the second audition for a Howard Barker play. I was early and I could here the sound of someone doing a vocal warm up so I knew I was in the right place.
As a little aside, I really hate that actually, A warm up is something to be done BEFORE you come into the audition situation. I know it's hard, but you moaning and groaning away in the corner can be off putting for the other actors in the room that are also trying to prepare.... Anyhoo...
I walked in and there was a girl from my course. It's sad to say we have reached a pass (After being at one point, very good friends on the course) To not really liking each other at all. So there was some fake good lucks. And genuine 'Break-a-legs'. The audition went well they were nice people but although the peice will be staged in London it's not in Central London and I very much doubt anyone of note would come to see it so.....
I'd prefer the first one please.
